The footprints of OLPC reached Asia Pacific with the official launch of OLPC Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, putting Sichuan, China as its priority concern.
Mr Anthony Wong, was invited by Professor Negroponte to be the first President of OLPC Asia Pacific. Mr John Tsang, JP, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong SAR is a Patron of the OLPC Asia Pacific.
The first and most urgent effort of OLPC Asia Pacific is to help children of Sichuan, China in regions devastated by the earthquake, by providing them a renewed and connected education platform through our XO laptops. With each school needing 2,000 XOs to kick-start a new learning community, and for education in the region to rebound as a network, there will be a lot to achieve, within the shortest period of time possible.
